Rooms

Yesterday was a rough day. Today was...good for the most part. I got up early and walked up to campus (which is NOT close to me at all, by the way, you try walking for 15 minutes, up hill, in the pouring rain with a "waterproof" jacket that leaves you soaked and no umbrella), was told to go to the big marquee (a marquee here is not the signs you see in front of schools back at home, it is a giant tent and boy was I looking for the wrong thing), and ended up following some random Asian kids because they looked like they knew where they were going. I almost missed the campus tour because I was standing on the wrong side of the stupid tent. So we went walking around campus and it started to rain harder. I was completely soaked by the time we got to go eat breakfast. Breakfast. It is a lot different here. First we "queued up" and we were given a pastry thing, mine was a flaky cinnamon type roll and we could have something out of the little fridge or coffee or tea. Then, thinking that was all I was getting (which I was completely fine with because it was free) we were each brought a plate full of food. On this plate was: a piece of toast, a very, very squishy sausage, baked beans, an egg (the white was like chewing a rubber band while the yolk was not at all cooked), and a very large piece of bacon. The bacon did not taste like bacon. It looked and tasted just like a piece of ham with a rather large strip of fat on the side of it (I know, you are all wondering, "DID YOU EAT IT?" and I am happy to tell you that I ate MOST of it. I couldn't get myself to take more than one bite of the sausage and more than like three bites of the bacon. Somehow, I got all of the egg down though. I can't believe it). Did I mention that I made some acquaintances with like four guys? I ate breakfast with them and walked around with them most of the morning. Then we went our separate ways to do different parts of the orientation. I had lunch with my daddy and went back where I made another acquaintance. She was really nice. When I finally got back down here, I was told that I could move out of my temporary room and move into my new room. I ran upstairs, packed all of my stuff, called a couple people back home, and waited for my dad and sister to arrive to come help me. I was then told that we could go to dinner and they would get my stuff moved and to come back after 7. We got takeout from a Chinese takeout restaurant (food in England really tastes like nothing, I don't get it) and hung out at their hotel for a couple hours. We got back here at about 8:45 where I was then told that my new flat is finished, I just can't move in because it has not been properly cleaned and they do not want me in there until it is perfect, which I guess is a good thing, right? So now I am sitting in my temporary room, afraid to unpack anything. I will be able to move in by 8 tomorrow morning. I have to get in and unpack as fast as possible so I can get a suitcase back to my dad because he is taking one home for me. That was a whole lot of rambling. And I apologize. I will tell you about our time in London as well as the few things that we have done in Plymouth when I can actually sit in my own room...
