I've Learned Some Things

So I have learned a few things (from experience or watching other people) since I have moved to the drizzly city of Plymouth.
  1. Umbrellas are great, but the second you feel a breeze you better put it down or it will be destroyed.
  2. "Waterproof" jackets aren't actually waterproof, they just keep you dry for a little bit longer.
  3. It is best to have at least 2 of the "waterproof" jackets because walking around in a wet one is the worst.
  4. Hang everything up immediately when you get home. If you don't it will still be wet tomorrow.
  5. People WILL look into your room, so keep your curtain closed when you shower.
  6. No matter what you do, you cannot keep your jeans dry.
  7. LAYERS. You may be hot when you leave but it is always better to have something in your bag than to freeze your ass off walking back.
  8. Walk across the street when it's clear, whether or not the sign says you can or you are at a crosswalk.
  9. IGNORE the birds.
I have neglected you guys for awhile. Sorry about that. I really haven't done anything though. I finally shipped a package home. It was £80. But you couldn't go any cheaper if you wanted to actually track the package... I want to follow it all the way home. So the other night I was almost asleep and someone made some noise that sounded like some sort of kitchen noise. In my mind I thought "What is my mom doing at this time of night?" Then I slowly realised that I am not home and my mom isn't here... So that was a little depressing. I just want to throw it out there that I am not unhappy here. A lot of people are treating me like I am hating my life here and that I just want to go home. That is not the case. Please stop. I like it here but I am homesick. I am looking forward to going home, but I just miss everyone. I talk to people at home every day more than people here. Yes, things are different and I do not like a lot these changes, but I am dealing with it. I am getting to know my flatmates more and more everyday one by one. I do sit in my room a lot, but if you know me at all, you'll know that I did this at home, too. Anyway. Our flat is ridiculously hot. Like, sweaty all the time, sleep without the duvet, and in the smallest amount of clothing possible hot. I think we have complained enough that they are going to do something about it. I have found that there is a possibility for AC. They just don't turn it on. There is no airflow and you are not allowed to prop your door open. So.....that sucks. Really sucks. It gets a little better when it is windy and rainy. So right now I don't feel like I am going to suffocate. Classes are fine. My French class is going to be great. My professor is adorable (I know it is a little weird to refer to your professor as adorable, but you should see him). He is a super nice, awkward French guy that throws a stuffed platypus named Darwin around. My other professors are fine, I guess. I don't know. Since I have decided to change my major when I get home, I'm not that interested in what I am currently learning. I have watched Pitch Perfect almost everyday. It is excellent. THEY DON'T PUT EGGS IN THE FRIDGE HERE. In the store they are just on the shelf above flour and cake mix and stuff. My flatmates said you can put them in the fridge but whatever the fridge smells like, your eggs will taste like. I haven't noticed that at home... But that was one of the weirdest things that I learned here. My eggs are currently my cupboard hanging out with my plates and bowls. I am woken up by either seagulls, Tesco workers, or construction workers at least 630 every morning. Construction workers are down there hammering the big stone things they put in, Tesco workers are pulling these metal carts around that are stored Right under my window, seagulls are just ridiculously loud and annoying, plus there are tons of them everywhere. Pretty much every night there is a rather large group of drunk girls that wander around the streets singing the same love song as loud as they can. They cannot sing. So that is how I know that it is about 2 or 230 in the morning. The other night though I heard a couple guys singing ABC Café from Les Mis and they were actually really good. I wish they would stand under my window and sing rather than the girls... I have eaten so little lately that yesterday I found a Subway, got a footlong and ate almost the entire thing. It was the first time I didn't wake up with my stomach screaming at me. This is the longest I haven't been into my Barnes and Noble since before I worked there. I found a picture that was taken in there and got really really sad. I miss all of you guys SO MUCH!!! They finally gave us wifi in the flat. It is supposedly only temporary though. That seems ridiculous to me... I want to use my iPad here, but they are making it very difficult to do so. Allegiant comes out this month. I am almost done with Insurgent again... Read them. They are wonderful. There is a store in the big mall right next to campus called Primark. In Primark today I discovered something. THEY HAVE A CORNER OF THE STORE DEVOTED TO ONESIES. I thought that was awesome. Alrighty. I am going to go finish my nails and watch Pitch Perfect, and play games on my iPad... Have some pictures of people I have Skyped/FaceTimed that I took without their knowledge or permission. LOVE YOU GUYS.
<3 Jes.
