I'm back in Plymouth!
HEY.
It's been awhile, eh? I'm sorry. Since I posted last, I went home, got to see my cats, my parents, and everyone else. And it was great. I miss everyone at home. But now I am back in Plymouth. And have been for several weeks now. I spent most of my time at home with family or with Derek. I hung out with and visited as many people as I could, but I didn't get to see nearly enough of my friends :( Getting back here was a nightmare. In the Salt Lake Airport I was "randomly" selected to have my hands swabbed and tested and then sent off to the expedited security line (which was pretty great because I didn't have to take my hoodie or shoes off, and I didn't have to take my computer or iPad out of my bag). After I walked through the metal detector, I was "randomly" selected again to have my bags swabbed and tested. The short flight to Detroit felt like the longest flight ever. My long flight was delayed an hour and a half because someone clogged one of the toilets before we even took off. Because of that delay, I got into Heathrow late and missed the train to Paddington station (I was only seconds late for the Heathrow Express and had to wait another half an hour) which made me late for my train to Plymouth. So when I finally got to Paddington, I bought a ticket to Plymouth on the next train (which was leaving in about 8 minutes) and sprinted to the train. I had to put my suitcase in my seat because I couldn't fit it in any of the luggage racks. When I finally got here, I got into our flat and my door was unlocked and my curtain was unhooked and a hook was missing. So I had to go down and have one of the people from reception come up and look. They haven't told me who was in my room even though they told me they were going to, but since nothing was taken it doesn't really matter. I stayed here two nights in a row by myself and it was kinda freaky. The hall light turned on on its own quite a bit and my bathroom light did, too. It was weird. All I brought back was food. I have eaten a lot of it already. :)
Nothing else has happened really. I started a 30 day challenge by combining a bunch of 30 day challenges and so far I have stuck to it. I have cut a few things out because they weren't doing anything for me or I had overestimated my abilities and I couldn't move the next day. Lucy and I have started to go on a walk once a week. They are pretty long walks. The last walk we went on, we caught the Cremyll Ferry and went to Mount Edgcumbe in Cornwall. It was steep and muddy and rainy and cold, but it was worth it. We also had to walk through a field where sheep were grazing. Let me tell you, walking through a soggy field, getting your shoes covered in mud and maybe sheep poop isn't the most fun. But it was really really pretty over there. We walked all the way up to the top and we could see all around. It was great.
I was given a spot to go to Nice, France, in March with the French department. The best part is that I only have to pay for lunch and dinner and the train to and from the Bristol airport. My mom, Martin, and Andrew are going to be here on April 3. We are going to Paris for a couple days, then they will come down here for a couple days, then we will all go to London for the rest of their trip. I am going to be going home with them for a week and then I will come back here by myself. I am really looking forward to going home. I miss home. I think my mom and my cousin Teresa are going to be coming here for two weeks (this isn't for sure) to pick me up, which is great. I think my dad and Sandra should come over, too, before I go home for good.
I have been thinking about taking trips to Scotland and Ireland (and I have recently started thinking that I might as well go to Wales while I'm here) to make the most out of living in the UK. I have tried to find someone to go with me, but I can't really talk anyone into it. I am okay (I think) with going by myself, but both my dad and Derek have told me to try to find someone to go with me, because they don't want me to go by myself. In Scotland, I would go to Edinburgh (which is pronounced ehd-in-burr-uhh). I really really really want to go to The Elephant House, which is the cafe that JK Rowling wrote most of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I also want to go to the Edinburgh castle. Ireland, I'm not sure what I'd do. I think I'd want to go to Dublin, but I don't know what I would do there. I would want my mom to be there with me to go to the Guinness brewery, and I really don't know what else is there. I have a lot more research to do.
I found out that I will most likely only have one test in my exam month (instead of finals week, there is an entire month when your finals can take place) so I may end up having almost two months of no school. The worst part about that is that I may end up being the only one in the flat. So that will be uncomfortable. At Primark I found sweats that say UTAH on them. I plan on buying some tomorrow because since when does anyone outside of Utah actually know what Utah is?? I really wish I was home so I could go to Sundance. So many beautiful famous people are in my state and I am not there to find them.
Most of us got Fitbits for Christmas or with Christmas money, so we have been competing for steps. I don't get as many as most of my "friends" on there do, but with my walks, I seem to get quite a few.
Alright. It's late. I better get to sleep. I hope everyone is doing well. I miss you guys. Here are pictures from my time at home and my walks and other random things.
