I'm back in the UK!
Helllllooooooo. I did pretty well at updating for like month and then I quit again. Oops. Oh well. Anywhales.
I'M IN THE UK. I've only been here for like an hour and a half, but whatever. It's my first of 24 nights, so I'm taking it easy since I didn't sleep at all on the plane. The flights weren't awful, the one from SLC to JFK was on a new plane, but I had a stupid little girl kicking the back of my seat the entire time and the old guy across the aisle from me wouldn't put his bag under the seat in front of him so he got up to get it down and put it back up every two minutes and someone smelled like a stale fart and I didn't even have mentholatum to put in my nose to block the smell.
Since I no longer live over here and I don't actually have a place that is all mine to stay at, I was extremely nervous about coming over here. This nervousness didn't hit until yesterday morning when I was getting ready to head to the airport. I was suddenly feeling like I didn't want to go (which of course I wanted to go because Scotland and Ireland and people I haven't seen in a year) and I started to feel really panicky. I've decided making the long flights by yourself really sucks when you're just heading to a hotel. I never ever felt this way when I would get off the long flight just to get straight on to a train to Plymouth, which I think is a really shitty train ride, it's like it never ends. But going to Plymouth, I had a place that was all mine, just for me, waiting for me. I could unpack and it was my little home. This hotel does NOT feel like home. I mean, I have no pants on and someone, I don't know who, just knocked to come in.
The backpack thing has gone well so far. I just zip off my little daypack and put the big part in the overhead bins. It's nice to not have to worry about getting stuff at baggage claim, but it gets heavy if you're standing up too long. This pack is huge but I didn't fit much stuff in it. I have a week's worth of clothes, two pairs of shoes, a very thin waterproof jacket, a nicer jacket, two pairs of shoes (plus the ones that I wore on the plane), makeup, computer, nook, and my blanket and Moo Cow (yes, I take my baby blankey and my stuffed cow with me everywhere) and that's pretty much it.
I can't decide if I'm just going to go to sleep right now (it's 12:40 PM here) and not move until tomorrow or try to stay awake for awhile at least and then go to sleep. I just ate on the plane and I stopped at Sainsburys to get some snack-y food for if I do get hungry. I want to go to Nando's, but then again I don't because then I'd have to get up and put pants on and whatnot. We'll see. I might just watch a movie and let myself fall asleep. Or watch Netflix because their wifi surprisingly does not suck here. I also stopped at Boots. It was just a small Boots, but man oh man do I miss that store. It's kinda weird, it almost feels like I never left. England is just as much homes Utah is, I just no longer have a permanent residence and cannot legally live here. So whatever.
Tomorrow I will meet Alice around noon and then we will head over to Kings Cross and be on our way to Edinburgh! I'm extremely excited. BIRTHPLACE OF HARRY POTTER, HERE I COME. I just realized that I didn't buy any Desperados. What is wrong with me. Ugh. That would put me out really fast.
Okay. I'm going to go brush my teeth, charge everything and watch a movie. I hope everyone is doing well :) I'll do my best to update at least at the end of every location, maybe I'll even try for every day to avoid mile long posts... Who knows. I'll most likely forget to do it all together. It's annoying how much I miss some of you already. Geez.
