London Town
My final stop was London with Lucy. When I got to her on Saturday, we got takeaway from a great Indian restaurant and just had a lazy night in. I am pretty sure new watched Bridget Jones's Baby. The next day, we went to see the new Kingsman film. I made her watch the first one two years ago, so it was only fitting we go see this one together as well. I broke my own rule of no drinks in a movie and had to leave twice. It was really good but I need to go again to see what I missed.
We came back and had a lovely roast dinner and a lazy rest of the day. Monday was the day I was most excited for! We went to Warner Brothers Studio Tour London! We had each been four times before, but they add new Harry Potter things each time so we have to go back. I think even if they didn't add new things we would still go back. This year we got to go as right after they put the Halloween decorations up in the great hall and the new Forbidden Forest exhibit is open! SO COOL. Privet Drive is open, too! Last year it was only supposed to be open for a couple weeks but it appears it is open for good now, which is cool.
After the tour, we went into central London to go to the Primark on Oxford Street and to meet Tom so I could see him again before I head back across the pond. We stopped into the giant LUSH and each got a face mask. Mine was black and amazing. I hardly used any and I looked like I dipped my face in tar. It is exclusive to the Oxford Circus store, so the one time I got to use it was pretty great. Lucy gets to keep using it now 😊. Surprisingly, I was well behaved in Primark. I bought only clothes and still not very much. We met Tom at a coffee shop off Regent Street and had a couple hot chocolates and a nice visit.
On the last full day, Lucy and I went to Kingston so I could do my book shopping and go to Primark once more, just because. I bought a few more things in Primark, had a failed shopping experience at Waterstone's, which is so sad because I used to LOVE that store, and a pretty good experience at WH Smith, which I usually cannot stand. I even managed to find a signed copy of one of the books I wanted. We had Nando's for one of my last meals and headed back so I could try to figure out how the hell I was going to get all the crap I bought home.
I got it all packed with some room to spare (in one of the new bags I bought, no way there was room in my original bags) and we had pizza and I made her watch That '70s Show, which I had to stop watching after she went to sleep because I just kept laughing too hard. SO great. One of her cats, Fudge, had to come over and see if we would let her have some pizza. She kept getting closer and closer. I don't think she liked that we didn't give her any 😂
Overall, this trip was great. Way slower paced than usual, I packed half of what I packed the last two years and still had things I didn't need, and since I had hardly any space, I didn't buy anything until I was halfway through the trip, which saved me a ton of money. I did learn though that I don't really like traveling alone. I get really nervous, paranoid even. I start to feel like everyone is trying to scam or hurt me. I trust no one. It's tiring, lonely, and sometimes boring to not have anyone to talk to when you're alone for days. You're on guard every second and it's just hard. For months before this trip I was convinced I was going to be someone who would travel alone for the rest of my life because I could. And while I can do it, I feel safer and less lonely with someone. It's especially hard when you have a hard time making friends, like me.
My final morning will most likely be spent being lazy and making sure I have everything and cleaning up the room I was staying in. I am going to miss this wonderful country. It feels like I just got here but it also feels like I never left. While I am looking forward to driving my own car and not relying on public transport to get everywhere (even though I LOVE the Underground, which I barely got to use) I got to spend time with some of my favorite people, friends who I don't need to see or speak to everyday to know that they're there. We can pick up where we left off like we saw each other a few minutes before. Thank you to Alice and her family, Lucy and her family, and Tom for putting up with me ❤️❤️
Until next time 😘🇬🇧😘🇬🇧
