Making my way back to Plymouth
This year, due to lack of funds, my trip was postponed until September/October. I found a killer deal on flights, so I booked and hoped that my friends would be able to see me during that time. Luckily, they were all available!
Two days before I left this time, I got a terrible cold. I went to Walgreens and spent $70 on cold medicine so I could hopefully not be sick when I came over. Didn't work, but hey ho, worth a shot. I got on the plane and luckily I didn't have anyone sitting next to me, I didn't feel so bad coughing, but I did feel bad for others near me. I did my best to sleep, didn't work well even with NyQuil. Once I arrived, I had about an hour and a half to get through customs and to the train station to catch my train to Exeter.
To my surprise, there was hardly anyone in line to get through the UK border. Everything was going well. Too well. I got the train station, got up to get on the train, got on the correct coach and suddenly looked at my ticket and it said September 28, not 27. I was in a panic. I ran back to the ticket office and had to buy a new ticket, sprinted back to the train and stood until the first stop, which was alright because I got to stand at a window. Then I hurried and found a seat before anyone could get on the train.
Alice picked me up and we were off to Nando's! Since I was still pretty sick, I had like no taste buds, so I can't tell you if it was as good as it usually is, but I bet it was. We went back to her place and I was asleep before 8:30 and then slept until at least 8. After we got up and headed out the door, we went to Killerton, which is a nice gardens area. We wandered around, dodging cow pies every few steps and enjoying the pretty views.
After leaving Plymouth, we headed into Cornwall to see Alice's family and stay with them for a night before heading farther south west!

After Killerton, we headed into town to look for a Lush. We didn't find one, but we spent a bit of time on the Cathedral Green and went to see Gandy street where there is a cheesy-looking Harry Potter themed pub.
My second full day was spent making our way to Cornwall to stay with Alice's family. We went to Haytor in Dartmoor where we saw some wild horses and cool rock formations. When trying to climb some of the rocks, I had ahold of the hand holds but my foot slipped causing my elbow to slam into the rocks. it was unpleasant and I bled for a while, but it's fine now 😊
After Haytor, we went to Widecombe-in-the-Moor to have lunch in the Rugglestone Inn pub. I had a cheddar baguette which was literally shredded cheese on a baguette. Not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.
After lunch, we left Dartmoor and headed to Plymouth. It's strange how it just feels like home to me when I get out of the car. I'm a little sad that I couldn't stay for very long, but just getting to visit for an hour or so is good. We went to the Hoe and Drake Circus. Times have really changed since I lived here, there are armed guards wandering around Drake Circus and it's just very, very different.
