Brighton 2018

Instead of spending a week in London, we decided to add an additional city to our trip. Brighton is where we chose! It's not far from London and it's some place we haven't been. Getting here wasn't terrible. We had to stand on the train the whole time, but that wasn't the end of the world. Getting here though, I wasn't in the greatest of moods, which I think messed up my state of mind for how I feel about the place. While waiting for the train, I was bumped, quite hard, by some girl and my phone flew, cracking my screen protector in multiple places. I will be lucky if I don't get glass stuck in one of my fingers.

The flat we are staying in is okay. Theres a big hole in the floor where you could easily lose things, there are bugs like ants, gnats, and moths in here, and plugs are hard to find. There were two bedrooms, one of which has bunk beds and the other has a double bed. There's so much crammed into the flat that it's a bit hard to get around and the stairs to the bedrooms are STEEP. It took us about 10 minutes to get the TV working correctly, which was a bit ridiculous. Anyway, we walked from our flat to The Lanes, because we needed to get to the Apple store before they closed for the night. We are lucky that it's Thursday and they're open until 8 for "late night shopping".

We had dinner at Nando's because we couldn't find anything else that sounded appealing and iI ft was right there, not that I'm complaining. We needed to run to the store before heading back, so we went to get our breakfast and some snacks, watched some street performers, then went to walk along the water. The beach is really nice here. It's all rocks, but that doesn't matter much to me. We walked on the beach for a bit and then started making our way back to the flat to watch a movie. Oddly enough, I don't feel the safest here. This is how I imagined I would feel in Glasgow, but in Glasgow I felt SO SAFE. We walked around after midnight and I felt totally fine.

Our first full day in Brighton was spent with Lucy! It was a lot of fun! I felt a bit better about the city and was feeling better than before. Not sure if I mentioned that I have come down with a cold (or a sinus infection), but I have and it isn't great. We took our time getting ready this morning and then met Lucy when she got off the train from London. My mom was waiting in line for a book signing for an author we'd never heard of but decided to stay and meet anyway, and then we had mexican food for lunch. I've noticed this time around that there are a lot more Mexican restaurants over here than there used to be. I don't remember seeing any until this year, if I'm being completely honest.

We walked around the lanes a bit, then decided to go check out the big ride thing that is owned by British Airways. It's the i360 and it takes you 450 feet into the air and you can see out in any direction. You can see so much! It was pretty cool. The thing itself looks like a space ship when it's going up and down. From there, we went and had a drink at one of the little bars on the beach and they walked up and down the pier. We shopped in random stores a bit and then headed back toward the train station to see Lucy off. We grabbed dinner and went back to the flat to have an early night (partly because everything closes so freaking early, even restaurants) and watch the second Harry Potter. We keep finding tiny ants in our kitchen, which is terrible, but I'm not sure what we can do about it. We don't have much longer here, so I am thinking we just stick it out and don't cook here.

Saturday, we got up and took our time getting ready. Since we weren't the biggest fans of Brighton, we decided we would just shop, have dinner at the flat and hang out there most of the day. First we walked by the Royal Pavilion. We walked through the gardens and looked at flowers but then didn't actually go inside the pavilion. We walked to all the shops we wanted to go to and then headed down to walk along the beach. We walked along and then went to have a drink at one of the little bars that we passed along the way.

There were so many seagulls I kind of wanted to die. I really really hate seagulls. Well, all birds. But seagulls will dive-bomb you to get to your food. After the drink, we made our way back to the flat so we could make dinner and lounge around. Overall, Brighton was crowded, dirty, and full of homeless people and seagulls. I've learned that it's just not the place for me.

Sunday morning, we got up, had breakfast, cleaned up all our stuff, and made our way to the train station. It was a good thing we got there so early, the train was REALLY crowded. Our next destination is also our final and we are getting TIRED!
