London 2019
After meeting Justin, I jumped on my train and headed to London where I had the lovely Tom waiting for me. I dragged him to Nando's and we had dinner and had a nice catch up. It was kinda late so I left Tom to get to the AirBnB. I was a little nervous to get there and see it, especially alone because it was dark, but I managed. Flat was TINY. The people are AirBnB really know how to take photos. I have had this happen before, I don't know why I was surprised.
Also, What is with all mirrors in the UK? Why can't they put mirrors so short people can see them? Not all people are like 6ft. I got really tired of not being able to see my face at all or only getting to see like my eyes or as low as my nose. WTF man. JUST LET ME CHECK MYSELF OUT OKAY. The UK was pretty warm (not quite Utah warm while I was in England, but the humidity makes it terrible) and we had one window, which I refused to leave open when I was asleep because I couldn't tell what was out there in the dark, but we were SO lucky that the hosts provided a fan.
The bed was in a loft with a really scary ladder that was really close to the kitchen counter. It was so small that basically my stuff was all over the place and took up most of the floor in the "kitchen". I went to bed, got up early the next morning, got ready for the day and headed out to go see Lucy and her family. I didn't get to see them at the start of the trip, so I was really looking forward to seeing them for the little time I had, which was only about an hour. Lucy had my suitcase full of stuff I had brought over for everyone over there, so I had to pick that up, say hello to the cats, and hug all the wonderful humans.
From there, I ran back to the flat because that suitcase was still heavy, then headed out to meet Alice, Oska, and Tom at Brick Lane where we had bagels (which were actually really good, I thought Einsteins had ruined me, but I was glad to find out I was wrong) from a famous (I think) bagel shop. It was really busy, so we took our bagels and walked toward the train station and found a place to sit, eat, and visit. We took the bags back to the flat, then wandered around Kensington. Found a pub, which was super weird because it had Hawaiian decorations and was playing some of the weirdest music I have ever heard at a pub. The Sunday roast was compared to prison food. It was just...not great.
Oska left us to get his train, Tom left us to get ready for work, and Alice and I ended up just walking aimlessly around Kensington and Nottinghill, getting lost, looking at houses, and catching up. We walked to a store, grabbed some wine, and headed back to the flat to drink and just visit. The next day we went shopping at Westfields, which is a giant mall in London that I didn't know existed .We barely explored half of it. I just went to the stores I needed stuff from. We dropped all our stuff at the flat, and ran right back out to meet Lucy for what we wanted to be a cream tea. Turns out the cafe in St James's Park doesn't always have scones and it was way too hot for tea. So we settled for pastries and water and chatting. It was the first time Alice and Lucy had ever met and it was SO NICE having them in the same place.
Alice and I then said our goodbyes to Lucy at Victoria and headed to Nottinghill to grab some dinner and rest for a minute before we had to go back out. I had Nando's. Of course. Because how could I not when it was SO close to the flat.
The Warner Brothers Studio Tour has changed SO MUCH since last year. I can't even believe it. Alice had been once, I believe this was my 8th visit and it just gets better every time. I think this time I spent the least amount of money and that is unbelievable. I can't wait to go back again and see what they've done since. There's a chance I'll go when I go back later this year if they put snow on the Castle by the time I am there.
Alice and I headed back to the flat for our final night and packed all the stuff. It took forever. We said our goodbyes early in the morning and headed out separate ways, her down south, me across the pond. Flight was uneventful except for the stupid, inconsiderate girl who was trying to take up half my seat. But whatever. I made it home and back to work by 5AM the next day.
Thanks for tagging along with me again this year. It's always a blast :)
